The sanctions prohibit the satisfaction of any claims by Haitian authorities against people and entities in connection with contracts or transactions, the performance of which has been affected by the trade embargo on Haiti imposed by the UN between 1993 and 1995, and implemented by the EU. There are currently no UN sanctions on Haiti, the previous sanctions having been lifted by UN Security Council Resolution 944 and UN Security Council Resolution 948.
