In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, the German Foreign Office said that “after having suspended development & security cooperation, we are in favour of EU sanctions against the leaders of the coup as a next step”. The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has already imposed broad sanctions since the military takeover (previous post).
