The EU today renewed the humanitarian exemption to its Syria sanctions regime until 24 February 2024 (press release; Council Regulation (EU) 2023/1462; Council Decision (CFSP) 2023/1467). The EU adopted the humanitarian exemption in February 2023 in response to the Syria-Turkey earthquake to support the timely delivery of humanitarian assistance by specified international organisations (previous post).
