G7 consider proposal to Russian ‘oligarchs’ to buy their way out of sanctions

At a G7 meeting of finance ministers’ last week, Canadian Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland is reported to have proposed the idea of allowing Russian oligarchs to give money to rebuild Ukraine as a way of sanctions being lifted and as a way of disassociating themselves with President Putin.
