BIS denies export privileges for 10 years over smuggling of arms into Mexico

The US Commerce Department’s Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) has issued an order denying export privileges to Luis Lopez of Donna, Texas, until December 2029. In December 2019, Lopez was convicted in federal court of smuggling 5 AK-47 semi-automatic rifles from the US to Mexico. He was sentenced to 37 months’ imprisonment. Order.
