US renews Iraq waiver for Iranian energy for 45 days

The US Department of State has renewed a sanctions waiver allowing Iraq to continue to import Iranian electricity. The waiver will remain in effect for 45 days. A spokesperson said that the renewal was authorised to “ensure that Iraq is able meet its short-term energy needs while it takes steps to reduce its dependence on Iranian energy imports.”
