BIS requests comments on surveillance system export controls

The Commerce Department’s Bureau of Industry and Security has published a Notice seeking public comments on the items currently subject to export controls for crime control and detection reasons. Items include facial recognition software and other biometric surveillance systems, long-range acoustic devices, and fingerprint readers. Comments should be submitted on or before 15 September 2020.
