Third countries align with EU Syria sanctions

On 28 May 2020, the EU Council adopted Decision (CFSP) 2020/719, which renewed its sanctions regime against Syria for 1 year, and delisted 2 businessmen on the basis that they had halted their sanctionable behaviour (see post). North Macedonia, Serbia, Montenegro, Albania, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Ukraine, Moldova, and Georgia have aligned themselves with this decision. See press release.
