Uzbekistan individual pleads guilty to conspiring to provide material support to ISIS

Azizjon Rakhmatov, originally from Uzbekistan but resident in Connecticut, has pleaded guilty before the US District Court to conspiring along with 4 other defendants to provide material support to ISIS, a designated foreign terrorist organisation. Mr Rakhmatov transferred $400 into his co-defendant Akmal Zakirov’s bank account to fund Akhror Saidakhmetov’s (another defendant) travel to Syria to fight on behalf of ISIS.

2 co-defendants, Abdurasul Juraboev and Mr Saidakahmetov have been sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment. Abror Habibov and Mr Zakirov are currently awaiting sentencing, and Mr Rakhmatov could receive up to 15 years’ imprisonment. US Department of Justice Press Release.
