UNSC renews DRC sanctions regime

The United Nations Security Council have renewed its sanctions regime relating to the Democratic Republic of Congo until 1 July 2020, and have extended the mandate of the Group of Experts until 1 August 2020, having unanimously adopted Resolution 2478 (2019).

The resolution reaffirms measures set out in Resolution 2293 (2016), which imposed an arms embargo, asset freeze and travel ban on persons associated with armed groups operating in the DRC.
