Russia extends food embargo against EU, US & allies

President Putin has extended an embargo on food imports from several states from 1 January 2020 to 31 December 2020 pursuant to Federal Law No. 281-03 in response to the EU’s recently renewed economic sanctions targeting Russia’s finance, energy and defence sectors (see post). The embargo is already in place until the end of 2019.

The states subject to the embargo include the US, EU member states, Canada, Australia, Norway, Iceland, Albania, Montenegro, Liechtenstein and Ukraine.
