US designates 5 individuals and 1 entity under Magnitsky Act

OFAC has imposed asset freezing measures on 5 individuals and 1 entity pursuant to the Magnitsky Act 2012. The designation targets “those involved in the detention, abuse and death of Sergei Magnitsky” and “those responsible for atrocious acts within Russia, including the extrajudicial killing of Boris Nemtsov and the pervasive abuse of LGBTI persons in Chechnya”. The individuals: Ruslan Geremeyev; Gennady Vyacheslavovich Karlov; Sergey Leonidovich Kossiev; Elena Anatolievna Trikulya; and Abuzayed Visuradov. The entity: Terek Special Rapid Response Team. This action brings the total number of persons designated under this Act to 55. OFAC Notice and Treasury Press Release.
