US extends Somalia sanctions for 1 year

The US is continuing sanctions on Somalia for 1 year by extending the national emergency as declared in Executive Order (EO) 13536, specifically for the “deterioration of the security situation and the persistence of violence in Somalia, acts of piracy and armed robbery at sea … and violations of the arms embargo imposed by the United Nations Security Council”.  The extension also comprises an import ban on Somalian charcoal into the US, as imposed by Executive Order 13620 (amending EO 13536).
