US renews legal basis for Iran sanctions

The US has continued the basis for its sanctions on Iran for a year by continuing the national emergency declared in Executive Order (EO) 12957 (as amended). See White House Notice. US sanctions on Iran were reimposed in August 2018 under Executive Order (EO) 13846 (see previous post) following the US withdrawing from the JCPOA.
