UK sanctions commencement regulations

Last week, the UK published regulations under the Sanctions and Anti-Money Laundering Act 2018 which brought into force the Act’s provisions relating to the designation of persons in post-Brexit sanctions regulations.  The Sanctions Regulations (Commencement No. 1) (EU Exit) Regulations 2019, SI 2019/627.

Some provisions entered into force on 22 March 2019 (which are subject to Parliamentary approval) others on 25 March (subject to annulment by Parliament).  Provisions which do not concerns designation decisions will come into force on EU Exit Day.
