OFAC designates 14 individuals and 17 entities linked to Iran nuclear development

The US Treasury has imposed asset freezes on 14 individuals and 17 entities linked to Iran’s Organisation of Defensive Innovation and Research (SPND), pursuant to Executive Order (E.O.) 13382, which targets the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction in Iran.  SPND “provides support to designated Iranian defense entities and […] played a central role in the Iranian regime’s past nuclear weapons effort”. SPND subordinate groups and personnel are included on the designation list for a variety of activities, including “weapons systems, materials, and explosion research” and conducting “studies on nuclear terrorism”.   For the full list of designations, see OFAC Notice and Treasury Press Release.
