Australia imposes sanctions on Russia in response to Kerch Strait and Sea of Azov

Australia has joined the UK, EU, US and Canada in imposing financial sanctions and travel bans against 7 Russian individuals “for their role in the interception and seizure of Ukrainian naval vessels that were attempting to pass through the Kerch Strait” pursuant to the Autonomous Sanctions Regulations 2011, as amended, and Autonomous Sanctions (Russia, Crimea and Sevastopol) Specification 2015. In addition, 3 “leaders from separatist-controlled parts of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions” were added to Australia’s sanctions list.  See Press Release, Consolidated List of sanctioned individuals and previous post.
