In 2007, the US adopted Executive Order 13441, which declared a national emergency in respect of Lebanon. The E.O. imposed asset freezing measures on people and entities which “undermine Lebanon’s democratically-elected government or democratic institutions”. President Trump has renewed those sanctions for 1 year by continuing the national emergency as declared. White House statement.
