OFAC and e.l.f Cosmetics reach $996k settlement over N.Korea sanctions violations

Today (31 January), OFAC announced a $996,080 settlement with e.l.f Cosmetics Inc (Oakland, California), to settle its potential civil liability for 156 apparent violations of the North Korea Sanctions Regulations. Specifically, e.l.f Cosmetics Inc is alleged to have imported, between April 2012 and January 2017, 156 shipments of false eyelash kits (total value of $4,427,019.26) from two suppliers located in China that contained materials sourced by those suppliers from North Korea.
